Jason Herndon, MD
Jason M. Herndon, MD, is the medical director and care team leader of Interventional Spine and Pain Center. As a double board-certified physician specializing in interventional pain management, Dr. Herndon brings both expertise and compassionate leadership to the team.
A proud native of Middle Tennessee, Dr. Herndon began his academic journey at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, graduating summa cum laude in biology and chemistry. He earned his medical degree with high honors from Meharry Medical College, where he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society—an honor awarded to only 15% of medical students based on academic excellence, leadership, professionalism, and service to others. Dr. Herndon went on to complete his residency in anesthesiology at the Medical University of South Carolina, followed by a highly respected pain management fellowship at Wake Forest University, training under some of the most renowned experts in the field.
Known for his warm bedside manner and empathetic approach, Dr. Herndon believes in first finding the causation of the pain, then creating personalized, holistic treatment plans tailored to the needs of each patient. His passion lies in helping patients reclaim their lives, empowering them to fully engage with their loved ones and enjoy the activities they cherish.
James R. Nunley, DO
Dr. James Nunley is a doctor of osteopathy, Board Certified in Anesthesiology and a diplomate in Pain Management. He studied at the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City, MO and completed his Residency at the Garden City Osteopathic Hospital in Garden City, MI. He has been serving patients in Middle Tennessee at area surgery centers, hospitals, and our pain center since 1981.
Todd Ussery, MD
Dr. Todd W. Ussery is a board-certified physician in both anesthesia and pain management, bringing decades of expertise in interventional pain management through advanced procedures and medication management. He has extensive experience working with both U.S. and international patients, including military personnel. Known for his compassionate approach, Dr. Ussery is committed to empowering patients to take control of their pain—and their lives.
Dr. Ussery moved to Tennessee for his love of its mountains, rivers, and the practical spirit of its people. Among his many accomplishments, he has authored a book dedicated to sharing his patient-centered approach to pain management.
Evan Forhetz, PA-C
Evan is a Physician Assistant who received his Masters of Physician Assistant Studies degree from Lipscomb University after obtaining his Bachelor Degree in Health Science from Freed-Hardeman University. He is board-certified and licensed in the state of Tennessee.
Evan enjoys spending time with his patients, helping them navigate their health needs, and improving their overall quality of life. He is skilled in ultrasound-guided joint injections, intrathecal drug delivery system management, medication therapy, and interventional procedural management.
He currently resides in Nashville, TN with his wife, Carrie, who is also a Physician Assistant. In his spare time, Evan enjoys staying active with his wife. Together, they enjoy outdoor activities and exercising. He is also an active member of his church and enjoys spending time reading scripture. “
Michelle Watts, PA-C
Michelle is a Physician Assistant who received her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies degree from Trevecca Nazarene University after obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in Sports Medicine from Pepperdine University. She is board-certified and licensed in the state of Tennessee.
Michelle enjoys getting to know her patients so she may provide personalized and quality care. She is skilled in ultrasound guided joint injections, trigger point injections, and Botox for chronic migraine treatment. She is also versed in medication and interventional procedural management as well as intrathecal drug delivery systems.
She currently lives in Nolensville, TN with her husband, Brandon and their dog, Sam. Together, they enjoy staying active, traveling, and watching football.
Angela Patterson, FNP-BC
Angela is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner licensed in the state of Tennessee. She completed master’s degree in Nursing at Vanderbilt School of Nursing after receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from The University of the South. Angela has been practicing in the family practice setting for the past 24 years. She offers compassionate care to her patients, listens to their needs, and helps them to make informed decisions about their health care.
Angela is originally from Sewanee and currently resides in Pelham, TN with her husband, their pack of rescue dogs, cats, and Chuck the yellow bellied turtle. She has 2 adult daughters and 1 step-son. Angela enjoys reading, traveling, and listening to music.
